I’ve always lived in the Youngstown area. I earned both a BA and an MA in English from YSU, where I’ve been teaching as a part-time faculty member in the English Department for many years. At YSU, I’ve worked with SCOPE, GOAL, the Writing Center, and I’ve served as a member of the Composition Committee, as part-time faculty representative, and as an English Festival volunteer.
My husband, Jim Canacci and I are proud to say that all four of our grandfathers worked in the steel mills that built this city. We currently live in Boardman with our two clever and amazing daughters, Miranda and Gillian, who are both students at West Blvd. Elementary School. We’re members of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown, and I recently joined the Board of Directors of the Oakland Center for the Arts.
Kris,
It was great meeting you the other day at Cedar’s Cafe. Wish I could have stayed longer and really miss hanging out with other adults with common interests in the Y. Thanks for commenting on my blog, too. Its difficult to gauge what will resonate here. I guess I just have to write what I know and live and comments be damned.
Take care,
Geniene
Hey Kris
I’m coming to Y-town for T-giving – maybe we can get together. Your posts make me miss the area.
